Below you will find a list of some things that you may want to avoid , when developing your web page. Please keep in mind that these are my personal suggestions, and that I encourage you to be as creative as you can be, without going -overboard.

  • Avoid large pictures or graphics: that will take a long time to download, as these will cause your viewer or potential customer to become impatient and leave the web site.

  • Pictures of your pets: most people who have pets consider their pets to be much cuter than your own, besides that they will do nothing to promote the services or products that your business offers, unless you are the owner of a pet store.

  • Background sounds or music: Should not be used unless they will greatly enhance or promote the service or product that you provide.

  • Bad scans: If you have a poorly scanned image on your web site it will reflect badly on you and your business.

  • Tickertape status bars: these are pretty cool when viewed for the first time, but after a few minutes they can become annoying as well as distracting to your web site viewer.

  • Fonts: You should use no more than one or two fonts per page, keep it simple and easy to read.

  • Underlining Text: When emphasizing text, do not underline it. Highlight text by using bold, italics, or different colors. Underlining makes words more difficult to read and it also confuses the web visitor, because text that links visitors to alternate locations, is underlined as well.

  • Animations: Web page designers should never include more than one or two page elements that move constantly. Moving images have an overpowering effect on vision and distract the viewer from observing any other elements. These misused elements include animated graphics, blinking text, and scrolling marquees.

  • Under Construction Icons: You may have noticed that none of our web sites have under construction icons on them. this is because these sites are always changing and improving. One thing that we have noticed is that any good and well maintained web site will undergo constant changes, If a web site does not change or improve it is in fact a poorly maintained web site.

  • Keep It Simple: Your web page should be simple to navigate through, and easy on the eyes.

  •       Once again I hope that these tips were helpful to you. Please do contact us if you would like any assistance with the development of your web site.
